Cricket is a great sport for kids of all ages. It keeps them active, engaged and introduces them to what it's like to be part of a team environment. However, it is can also be very rewarding for parents!
As a parent, you always want to see your kids smiling faces while having fun playing Australia's favorite sport. However, like most sports, the cricket programs don't just run themselves. They need volunteers . . . just like you!
Parents can and should get involved. Coaching, team manager, umpiring, scoring or simply offering support during game day and at training.
Becoming a Coach
Every team needs a coach to help organise, encourage, inspire, instruct and keep players safe.
As a parent you have a great opportunity to spend more time with your kids by sharing their passion and helping out as the coach. You will meet great people at your local club who will quickly become long time friends. It does take some time, matches on the weekend, an hour training session during the week, but - you do it because you love your kids and the game of cricket !
